Assess Information

Each vessel within Australia's maritime area of interest is assessed against specific threat criteria for each of the identified maritime security threats.

If sufficient threat criteria are met, an Interim Threat Rating is assigned to the vessel. These ratings are reviewed by both Border Protection Command and subject matter experts in relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies to validate the threat.

If the threat is validated a Threat Warning is sent to the relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies. These agencies, in collaboration with Border Protection Command, will then determine how best to manage the threat.
